Pochettino says the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea is going to be tough for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur had their revenge in the Carabao Cup as goals from Dele Alli and Heung-min Son helped the Lilywhites see off Arsenal 2-0 and progress to the semi-finals for the first time since 2014-15.

Mauricio Pochettino fielded a strong side in the cup tie and reaped the rewards as Heung-min Son opened the scoring in the 20th minute, latching on to Dele Alli’s delightful pass to make it 1-0. Alli himself got his name on the scoresheet in the second half as substitute Harry Kane played him in behind the backline and the youngster found the net with a wonderful chip over Petr Cech.

Spurs face a tough draw against Chelsea in the semi-finals, the first leg of which is at Wembley on the 7th of January while Manchester City will be up against League One side Burton Albion.

And Mauricio Pochettino feels that his team will face a tough test against London rivals Chelsea.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino on Sky Sports: “A very difficult draw, another London derby. We have already played Watford, West Ham and Arsenal.

“We shall see, Chelsea are a great team but we are excited. To be in the semi-final is fantastic for us.

“I am very pleased tonight. The most important thing was to play well and win the game. We deserved it. We kept a clean sheet here after a very busy period.”

Tottenham have a good record against the London sides in the Premier League this year, having won their fixtures against Chelsea, West Ham and Fulham but crumbled to a 2-1 defeat against Watford earlier in the season. It will be interesting to see how they fare against the west London giants in the semi-finals in January.
