Gareth Bale is once again a Tottenham Hotspur player.
The former Southampton star joined Spurs as a young prospect and became one of the most dangerous wingers in the game during his stay in London.
It was soon followed by a move to Madrid. However, despite racking up some serious numbers at Real, Bale was never loved and respected by the club or the fans and now has made a loan move back to Spurs.
His agent, Barnett has opened up on why the player chose to return.
During an interview with Sky Sports, Barnett said: “He loves it [at Tottenham]. The most important thing is he has got a smile back on his face and that he’s enjoying life.
“It had to be somewhere he wanted to go. For him, it wasn’t about money. If he was going to go somewhere it was going to be somewhere that he’d enjoy.
“He’s had offers and it wasn’t right for him. When Tottenham came knocking, it was right.
“He’s had a hard time and now he’s going to enjoy himself. He deserves to be happy. He’s been probably one of Britain’s best ambassadors.
“He wasn’t going anywhere with Real Madrid. We’d got to an impasse and some silly things were happening on both sides.”
