Pochettino hails Son’s impressive performances in the Premier League
Son Heung-Min was once again on target as Tottenham Hotspur romped home with an emphatic 5-0 scoreline against Bournemouth on Boxing Day. The Korean scored his 10th goal of the season to propel the Lilywhites to second in the Premier League standings as Manchester City dropped points in a 2-1 defeat against Leicester City.
Son has been one of the driving forces behind Spurs’ victories in recent weeks and manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke of the Korean in glowing terms after the 5-0 win. However, he also feels that Son’s absence due to the upcoming Asia Cup is going to be a cause of concern for the team.
“Unbelievable. What can I say? Sonny is doing a fantastic job for the team,” he told a news conference.
“After November he had a rest and was here trying to recover his best and I think he is doing fantastic. He started his fantastic run against Chelsea and until today he is doing a fantastic job for the team.
“I hope he can keep that level but you know he is going to be away from Tottenham because he needs to go with his national team to Dubai to play the Asian Cup.”
