The Premier League may soon be forced to lose one of its best players.
Hugo Lloris has admitted he is not expecting to end his career at Tottenham, while revealing he is open to moving to the Major Soccer League.
Tottenham star Hugo Lloris has three years left on his current deal and is in his seventh season at the North London club. At the age of 32, he has established himself as the club captain, leading them to five consecutive top-four finishes and a Champions League final.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League opener against Olympiacos, the shot-stopper revealed he does not think if he will finish his career in England.
“I do not think I’m going to end my career at Tottenham. I still have a few years ahead of me. In any case, I will do everything to make the most of it,” Lloris told France Football. “You also have to know when to say stop at the right time, but I’m not against the idea of discovering something new.
“That could be the United States. I could finish my career in MLS, we will see. I never really opened the doors to Tottenham exit, because I felt like I was happy where I was. It is not a lack of ambition on my part, it is just that I’m part of a project and every year I have seen the progress to reinforce my decision.
“If tomorrow I felt there was a regression, certainly I would then think about leaving”, he ended.
The France World Cup winner has been an excellent signing for Spurs. In terms of shot-stopping, he excels between the sticks, while his speed off his line and pinpoint distribution gives him an edge over a number of the Premier League’s best goalkeepers.
