Unai Emery has confirmed Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is working hard to get back on the pitch and is close to first team return.
Koscielny hasn’t featured for the Gunners this season since he suffered a horrific leg injury during Arsenal’s Europa League semifinal against Atletico Madrid. An Achilles rupture forced him to see his country lifting the World Cup from the sidelines in the summer and had he not been injured he certainly would have been in the winning squad.
Arsenal have been flying high following their 14 match unbeaten run and defence has been the backbone of their recent success. Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis and Ben Holding all have played their part pretty incisively building the momentum for the season.
Koscielny’s return will be a huge boost for the gaffer as the Gunners are due to face Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the Premier League to kick-start a busy December.
Emery said, “The most important is his feeling every day and that he can feel better at each training.
“He is close to being with us and also (playing) in the competition games but, at the moment, we are happy with him, he is feeling well.
“He is getting better every day and we are going to think after the internationals.
“I hope we can continue working and start to think about him playing games.”
