Javi Gracia claims that Abdoulaye Doucoure will stay at Watford

Watford manager Javi Gracia has said that Paris-Saint Germain target Abdoulaye Doucoure will stay at Vicarage Road.

PSG are currently short of players in the midfield department. Lassana Diarra is mulling over retirement, while Adrien Rabiot’s situation ain’t any better and Marco Verratti has suffered a serious injury.

As a result, the Parisians kept close tabs on Doucoure and were interested in him. In response, the player was flattered by the interest shown from one of the big clubs in Europe.

Gracia, who previously believed that the midfielder could leave Watford, has changed his tone as we near the deadline day of this transfer window.

Speaking in a new conference, the Spaniard said: “I think Doucoure will stay with us for the rest of the season. I don’t have any news about the team.

“Now we are trying to help him to recover as soon as possible because he is an important player for us.

“He has a little problem in his knee. He feels better day by day but I don’t know. One week ago, I thought he would be ready quicker but it wasn’t possible. I’m sure in the next days he will be ready.”

Watford visit Wembley for their next league game against Tottenham on Wednesday night. Doucoure will miss that game as he recovers from a knee injury.
