West Ham United starlet Reece Oxford has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United, insisting that he wants to fight for his place in the Hammers squad.

The Red Devils were seemingly keen on Oxford, who made twelve appearances for West Ham in his debut season.

He became the Premier League’s second-youngest starter when he made his debut against Arsenal back in August.

Oxford, 17, was named the club’s Young Player of the Year, and has stated that he wishes to kick on and cement his place in the West Ham first-team when they kick off next season in their new home, the Olympic Stadium.

Speaking on the club’s official website. Oxford said: “I feel like my hard work has paid off now so I’m happy that I have been awarded by the club,” he said.

“I didn’t think I’d have moved to where I am so quickly.

“I did think I was going to push on, but I’m just happy I’m here right now doing what I’m doing.

“Hopefully I’ll be playing week in, week out [in twelve months time].”
