Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino came incredibly close to joining Manchester United last December.
It was in December 2018 that Manchester United had just fired their boss Jose Mourinho. Meanwhile Spurs were flying high in the league and in Europe. They had done brilliantly well.
So naturally with United looking around for options, Pochettino was considered and now Redknapp, who is close to Poch, has revealed how close it actually was.
Redknapp told Sky Sports news : “He was reasonably successful. I like him, I think he’s great, I’ve got a great relationship with him. He will think he’s going to get a big club and he will get a big club, there is no doubt about that.
“Whether it’s in England, I know he thought he had a big job due last year, I know his advisors spoke to another club and it looked like it was a done deal, apparently, but he didn’t get the job. He’ll be in a big job very shortly.”
With Pochettino now sacked and United fairing terribly under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, will he be hired by the Red Devils?
