It would seem that Eden Hazard, David Luiz and the rest of the Chelsea squad are on Santa’s naughty list for this year’s Christmas.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has ruled out Christmas break for his squad making it clear that training will be on throughout the festive period.

Sarri said: “Do I enjoy Christmas? No, I like to play football more. I’m lucky. In Italy, we played over Christmas and I liked it very much. In the stadiums, there was a wonderful atmosphere, which in Italy is not very easy to have.

“There is no Christmas for us. We have to play every three days. How we prepare depends on the match. If the match is in the evening, we stay at home the evening before. If the match is in the afternoon, we will stay in the hotel the night before, as usual. So we will be in training on Christmas Day and on Boxing Day before the match. Is there a present I want this year? No. No Christmas for me, so no present.”

Chelsea’s latest loss to Leicester might make the case for Hazard and co. harder to convince their boss to go easy during the holiday period.
