Manchester City are nine points behind Liverpool in the title race.
When City won the title in last May, there were talks of dominance for years to come. Yes, Liverpool would be there to challenge them as well but City were considered well in the lead.
They were busy celebrating and paying homage to their departing captain Vincent Kompany. After overseeing the takover of Manchester City into one of the biggest clubs in the world, Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany was finally saying goodbye.
City were losing a defender on paper, they had three more. However, psychologically they lost their leader. They lost maturity and experience. For those who follow, EPL, they know how Kompanys goal against Leicester last season was not just a screamer but a sign of how important he is. He is the captain. He fights when everything seems down.
Right now, City have an injury crisis but the bigger problem is they have a leadership crisis. They have players who will return from injuries but they need a commanding centre back to bolster the team. In such a place, Kalidou Koulibaly would be the best bet in the available players section in the transfer market.
Koulibaly is a brilliant player who has shown he is the best in Italy already and even though he might cost a lot, City should not flinch and sign him!
