Lyon chief Bruno Genesio has insisted that the club do not need to sell Alexandre Lacazette, amid talk of interest from West Ham United.

The Hammers have reportedly been targeting the French international, 25.

But Genesio insists the Ligue 1 side are not in a position to sell.

‘I have asked that Lacazette remain with us,’ Genesio told Goal.com. ‘The club has no need to sell players.

“My wish is to keep the majority of players. That’s all I can say for now.”

West Ham have had a number of bids for Lacazette turned down in recent weeks, according to reports, including one of £32m.

The London side start life in their new Olympic Stadium home next season.

And they have shown a statement of intent, being linked with a host of players as they look to boost their options up front.

These include Liverpool’s Christian Benteke and Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi.

Lacazette has made over 200 appearances for Lyon since breaking through their ranks in 2010.
