French side Marseille have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal for Erik Lamela, according to RMC.

Marseille have been in a flurry of transfer activity as the time of the window closure draws nearer, and hoped to secure Lamela.

They have already brought in Mauricio Isla and Paolo De Ceglie on loan.

LFP rules state that only five French players can be at one club on loan at any time.

Lamela may be coming in on loan for the season, with an option to buy.

The deal for De Ceglie means that Marseille may have used all five slots, so any deal for Lamela may have to be a permanent one.

The club have also announced via their official twitter tonight, that one more player may also be joining, to bolster their attack.

Lamela joined Spurs from Roma in 2013, for ÂŁ25.8m.
