Manchester United finished as the runners-up in Group H behind Juventus and PSG will be taking on the Red Devils in the last 16 of the Champions League after topping Group C.

Mourinho was under the cosh for United’s poor performances in the group stages against Valencia but the Red Devils turned their fortunes around with a brilliant 2-1 comeback win over Juventus at Turin. United sealed qualification to the knockout stages but that wasn’t enough for Mourinho to convince the club hierarchy that he was the right man to take the club forward.

United owners pulled the trigger on the Special One in the wake of the club’s humiliating 3-1 defear against Liverpool at Anfield and appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager.

And Neymar has warned his PSG teammates that United can be a much difficult opposition as compared to their lukewarm displays in the group stages of the competition.

‘I was happy [with the draw], they will be two great matches between two great sides,’ said the Brazilian.

‘We know the quality that Manchester United have and we know that their players have a winning mentality.

‘The coach has changed and it will be a different playing style – they’re in the process of changing things up – but we know the quality they have. ‘I love the big matches and it’s always a pleasure to play in them. ‘I’m very happy to be taking on Manchester United.’

United face a tough draw agaisnt PSG and it will be interesting to see how the new interim manager changes things up ahead of the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
