Goal-scoring sensation set to depart Westfalenstadion

Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to leave the Westfalenstadion for the Premier League or La Liga, after Gabon manager reveals reason for the striker’s absence.

Gabon boss Jorge Costa was questioned why he left the 36-goal striker out of his squad that lost to Mauritania in a friendly on Friday, and admitted it was at the striker’s request.

Costa told reporters: “Aubameyang asked me not to be selected because he is in the process of changing clubs.”

Aubameyang has been linked with the biggest clubs in Europe over the past couple of seasons, after taking the Bundesliga by storm with Borussia Dortmund – breaking a long-standing Bundesliga scoring record at the beginning of the campaign.

And it now seems that the striker, who netted seven goals in Dortmund’s first six Bundesliga games of the season to make Bundesliga history, has played his last game for the German outfit.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have all shown significant interest in the 26-year-old France-born Gabon star, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to reunite with the player he worked with at the Westfalenstadion.

However, the Red’s failure to secure European football for next season could give the Red Devils and City the upper-hand in their chase for Aubameyang.

But Real Madrid could scupper the Manchester clubs’ chances of signing one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, with Los Blancos also keen to acquire his services, and the player himself has also admitted he promised his grandfather that he would one day sign for Real.
