The Croat left for Italy on loan.

Now he is expected to cut short his stay.

AC Milan are reportedly ready to send Ante Rebic back to Eintracht Frankfurt, just four months after signing the forward. As per Gazzetta dello Sport, Rebic could already be heading for the exit door after a disappointing start to the season.

He joined the Rossoneri after catching the eye at Eintracht and was also a key member of the Croatia squad that ended the 2018 World Cup in Russia as runners-up to France. But after playing just 178 minutes this season, still yet to score for his new club, it is possible he will be returned to the Bundesliga side.

The newspaper adds his two-year loan deal, which includes a €25 million option to buy, could be terminated this winter to make room for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Italian side would save on six months of salary that remain to be paid from January to June, which is reportedly around €3 million gross, money that the Rossoneri could reinvest in Ibrahimovic’s salary.

Andre Silva moved to Eintracht in the opposite direction on the same basis but has similarly struggled, netting just three goals in 15 appearances.
