Robben says Bayern have the worst possible draw against Liverpool in the Champions League

According to the Mirror, Arjen Robben has claimed that Bayern Munich have received ” perhaps the worst possible draw” in the last 16 of the Champions League having been paired with last year’s runners-up Liverpool.

The Dutch legend heaped praise on the Reds, saying that they are not only the favourites to win against them but also for the tournament as a whole.

“Liverpool is doing well again, just like last year when they made it to the final, and I also see them as a favourite for the Champions League victory this season,” the veteran winger told football-oranje.com.

”For us, it was perhaps the worst possible draw, but it’s going to be a great challenge, we have to look at ourselves, keep working hard and improve ourselves.

However, the 35-year-old believes that Bayern can overcome the Reds if they play their best football.

“If we have a good day and play the way we want, I’m sure we’ll make it very difficult for Liverpool .”

Robben also spoke his international teammate and Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk in glowing terms, saying that he deserves all the credit in the world for establishing himself as one of the best defenders.

“I do not know if he is the best defender in the world, but other people are allowed to judge that, but I’m happy for him,” he said.

“He has made big strides lately, just look where he comes from.

“He has grown as a player, but also as a personality, I am happy for him, where he is at the moment.

“He is a key player at a gigantic club, and he is the captain of the Dutch national team. He deserves all the compliments.”
