The star scored a goal against Chelsea.

But now he is set to be sidelined for a month.

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Robert Lewandowski will miss ‘four weeks’ of action after suffering a knee injury against Chelsea. Lewandowski scored and assisted twice in the 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge, but medical scans later revealed a problem.

However, a club statement on Wednesday revealed that the Polish striker had undergone a comprehensive examination by the medical staff, headed by Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, upon the team’s return to Munich, where the injury to his left knee was confirmed. Lewandowski’s knee will be immobilised in a cast for 10 days before he can begin rehabilitation training.

The expected four-week timeline for his return means that the 31-year-old hitman is likely to miss Bayern’s next four Bundesliga fixtures, starting with the trip to Hoffenheim this weekend, as well as matches against Augsburg, Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt.

He will also play no part in the DFB Cup quarter-final against Schalke on 3 March or the Champions League return meeting with Chelsea at the Allianz Arena on 18 March but could make his comeback in Der Klassiker with Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 28.
