Manchester United interested in Draxler

Jose Mourinho is keen on Wolfsburg ace Julian Draxler as he gets his Manchester United revolution underway.

The Red Devils have spent the last few years in the doldrums since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, with David Moyes and Louis van Gaal both being shown the door after disappointing reigns.

Now Mourinho is behind the wheel of the Old Trafford machine, and he is seemingly wasting no time in identifying potential targets.

One of these targets is Draxler, who according to Bild, has not decided if his future lies with the Bundesliga outfit.

While neither United or Wolfsburg are in the Champions League next season, United are at least in the Europa League, as Wolfsburg only finished in eighth position, a massive forty-three points behind champions Bayern Munich.

Draxler only joined Wolfsburg last summer from another German club, Schalke, and if he does leave, Wolfsburg would want to recoup as much of the ÂŁ25.5m they paid for him, if not a little more.

This may mean United may well have to spend big if they are to get their man. He is currently contracted to Wolfsburg for another four years.

Predominantly a left-winger, Draxler can also play as a No. 10, a genuine centre-forward or on the right flank, and he netted six goals and provided five assists in 24 Bundesliga appearances last term. He also ran Real Madrid ragged in their Champions League Quarter-Final encounter.
