More defensive woes for an already struggling side.

The Brazilian defender has suffered an injury.

AC Milan have been dealt a blow as defender Leo Duarte will be out for 3-4 months with a heel injury. Duarte – a summer signing from Flamengo – had only just broken into AC Milan’s first team, starting four of their last seven games.

However, the 23-year-old missed the 1-1 draw with Napoli last weekend and the Rossoneri confirmed on their official website he had fractured the heel bone in his left foot. He has already undergone surgery on and will be out for “3-4 months”, as per the club’s statement.

The Rossoneri were already short of centre-back options as Mattia Caldara is still weeks away from returning to full fitness. They are now spread thin defensively as they lack any back up centre-backs. Muscchio will likely return to pair Romagnoli for the rest of the year, while Caldara recovers and attempts to gather some game time. Matteo Gabbia will likely receive more call ups to the bench or Rodriguez may fill in as a stop gap centre-back.

As a result, the club might decide to reignite their interest in Juventus defender Merih Demiral. The Turkish defender has only appeared once in the league for Juve this season, so it would make sense if he decided he wanted to leave to play first team football.
