Ths Spanish champions are planning for life after Uruguay striker Luis Suarez.
With Suarez on the wrong side of 30, Krzysztof Piatek could be a long-term option for Barcelona.
Barcelona have reportedly identified AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez. While the Uruguayan remains as first choice under Ernesto Valverde, there has been speculation regarding the attacker’s future at Camp Nou.
With the 32-year-old only having a contract until 2021, Calciomercato claims that Barcelona have began to consider alternatives. The report says that Piatek has entered their thinking, with the 24-year-old having netted 11 times from 24 outings in Serie A since moving to San Siro at the beginning of the year.
Barcelona are allegedly willing to pay €50 million to complete a deal. AC Milan will likely demand well in excess of that figure, despite the downfall of the Pole’s form, who has managed to find the net barely twice in six league matches this season. Suarez, meanwhile, has scored three goals in six appearances this term.
Piatek still has just under four years left on his contract at the Italian outfit.
A number of options have been discussed, including Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Getafe’s Jaime Mata.
