Beating Juventus a step too far: Ancelotti

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has said Napoli are a step too far behind Juventus in the Italian Serie A.

“I think each of us must motivate ourselves not measuring ourselves against others, but measuring against ourselves,” he told the Corriere della Sera, according to Goal. “If you want to become [Leo] Messi then your path is influenced by genetics. But you can train every day to be better. It’s the same when it comes to the squad. If I say that we have to commit ourselves to beating Juve it’s an objective that’s too far away. I’m here to win. The objective is to have a team which fights until the end of the season.”

Juventus are unbeaten in the Serie A and have raced to a healthy lead ahead of Napoli. The Naples based outfit finished second to Juve last season as well under Sarri but were well ahead in the league almost throughout the entirety of campaign.

However, Juve did sign world beater CR7 this season who has quickly raised himself to the standards of the Italian league making it even more different for teams behind Juve to catch up.
