According to Calciomercato, Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has revealed that Mauro Icardi turned down an extension to his current contract a couple of months back but he is confident of keeping hold of the Argentine talisman for the foreseeable future.
Icardi was left out of Argentina’s World Cup squad but he continues to be a hot property in Europe. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and has been in tremendous form in the Serie A, scoring 9 goals from 13 appearances.
Ausilio said, “The renewal of Icardi? On our end, we still hold on to what has been said in recent months. We are happy with Icardi, of what he is giving on the field, and he always takes responsibility. ”
“His agent? She knows where to find me, in the office or on the phone. I say things how they are, Icardi received a contract two years ago and signed it. The most recent proposal was two months ago, which he received but it was not accepted. This doesn’t mean a dead end, we want to continue the negotiations.
“The negotiation with Juventus? I reply with a laugh and no comment, I can say without problems that Icardi won’t join Juventus
,” he concluded.
