Inter Milan have signed Croatian right-back Sime Vrsaljko on loan from Atletico Madrid. Vrsaljko will be at the San Siro till the end of the season.

The Nerazzurri have an option to buy the 26-year old for a fee reported to be ÂŁ21.34m. Vrsaljko has previously played three seasons at the Serie A with Genoa and Sassuolo. He helped Sassuolo reach their first ever Europa League by virtue of finishing 6th in the 2015-16 Serie A.

He came to Atletico Madrid from Sassuolo and signed a five-year contract with the club. Vrsaljko has been a regular for Croatia since 2011 and has played in every international competition since his international debut. He played a crucial role in Croatia’s run to the World Cup final this summer. Starting in all but one of Croatia’s matches, Vrsaljko provided the assist that led to Ivan Perisic’s equaliser against England in the semi-final.

Vrsaljko will be joining compatriots Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic at Inter. He is Inter’s 7th signing this summer after Radja Nainggolan, Matteo Politano, Stefan de Vrij, Kwadwo Asamoah, Lautaro Martinez and Samuele Mulattieri.

Inter are also looking to add a fourth Croatian to their setup in Luka Modric.
