Gonzalo Higuain unexpectedly sealed a win over Inter Milan.

Higuaín came off the bench to score the winner as Juventus moved top of Serie A by beating Inter Milan 2-1 in an intense Derby d’Italia at San Siro.

In a highly-anticipated Serie A derby, then league-leaders Inter Milan hosted Juventus as Conte’s men looked to continue their domestic domination this season. After opening six wins, Inter were ready to face the Old Lady, who won the Serie A eight times in a row.

However, Antonio Conte came out second best against his former side and his side slipped to second in the table.

“Juventus is in another category from all points of view, we cannot compare to them,” said Conte. “The gap is there and it is important. We have won six games bringing the car to 200 miles per hour and we will try to do it again.”

The Italian champions struck early on, as Dybala scored after an assist from Pjanic, stunning Giuseppe Meazza. However, the Nerazzurri wer not ready to give up, as Lautaro Martinez converted the penalty which tied the score at 1-1. With the match tied, Sarri looked at his bench and found one of the deadliest strikers in the league.

Team depth proved itself to be an important factor once again. Higuain entered the match and scored after an assist from Cristiano Ronaldo. The Bianconeri were able to keep the ship steady, controlling the match most of the time with the result in their favor. This result sees Juventus take over the top of the table.

Conte will be left wondering what could have been, as Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez had a solid situation at the end of the match, but the Belgian played a poor pass intercepted by Bonucci. However, the highlight of the match was Bosnian international, Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian inetrnational had 100 touches with the ball according to Whoscored, just as an example of Miralem’s importance for Sarri’s Juventus.

Both teams will send out most of their squad to play for their national teams as the international break is coming up. Juventus will host Bologna after the international break, while the Milanese club will travel to face Sassuolo in an attempt to get back to the winning ways.
