Why defender Alex Sandro missed Brazil's friendly win against South Korea

Some bad news for the Italian side.

They will be one man short on the backs with Sandro set for layoff.

Juventus full-back Alex Sandro has picked up a right thigh injury while on international duty with Brazil. He went off during the 1-0 friendly defeat to Argentina on Friday and was therefore ruled out of the squad for their test against South Korea on Tuesday.

Brazil finally ended their five-match winless streak when they overcame South Korea.

Although it was only a friendly, reports before the game suggested another defeat might have been enough to cost Brazil boss Tite his job. But the coach needn’t have worried in the end, as goals from Lucas Paqueta, Philippe Coutinho and Danilo saw them end the international break with a victory.

They were missing one man though and according to Globoesporte, Juventus medics have been informed of the injury, which is to the right adductor at the top of his thigh. He will be fully assessed soon.

It is more bad news for the Bianconeri, considering Miralem Pjanic went off for Bosnia and Herzegovina during a Euro 2020 qualifier against Italy on Friday. He has been sent back to Turin early for medical tests, again for an adductor issue.
