Klopp reveals how he was convinced to sign Salah

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp opened up on why he actually signed Mo Salah ahead of 20 other targets.

The Reds were in search of a forward and Klopp had given his scouts plenty to look at but the final choice was Mo Salah. And what a signing he has been. 44 goals in one season, African player of the year and carrying on his form this season as well, Salah could well be on his way to breaking several more records at Anfield.

However, the journey was not all simple for Mo who had previously played in England for Chelsea but failed to shine under Jose Mourinho. He was shipped off to AS Roma where he was a good player but nothing close to what he has produced for Liverpool. It now feels like the obvious choice but it was not all so easy for Klopp.

The German head coach revealed, “Michael Edwards, Dave Fallows and Barry [Hunter], they were really in my ear and were on it: ‘Come on, come on, Mo Salah, he’s the solution’. When you have 20 players on the table, different players, it’s difficult to make an early decision”

“But we all were convinced about it so could make the early decision so we could really get him. He’s a fantastic person, a nice lad and a really good football player.”.

What a story and let’s hope we are far from the ending!
