The agent of the player says he has his heart set on leaving Naples.

Albania international Elseid Hysaj will most likely leave Napoli at the beginning of the January transfer window.

Elseid Hysaj has fallen down the pecking order at Napoli, finding himself frozen out this season with Kevin Malcuit and new signing Giovanni Di Lorenzo ahead of him.

As a result, agent Mario Giuffredi made it clear this season would the Albanian’s last at the San Paolo.

“Elseid has proven to be an important player on both sides,” Giuffredi told Radio Punto Nuovo. “Ancelotti told me he would be happy if he stayed because he gave him guarantees in this regard. He stayed because unfortunately we were unable to close negotiations. However, it was a bad thing because a coach is out there who has consideration for him.”

The 25-year-old was close to Roma over the summer, but he could still be bound for the capital.

“Roma are a welcome solution for the player, if not his first choice. His contract expires next year. Napoli could lose him for nothing and it would be a shame because we have an excellent relationship.

“We won’t renew the contract, there are no conditions for it and both us and Napoli are aware of that. I feel it’s also time for him to make a change after four-and-a-half years. There is no need for any more talk because we are all in agreement.”

Just few days ago, Napoli had confirmed the 25-year-old defender suffered a fractured sternum during the 0-0 draw with Torino. He was stretchered off at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino after a very awkward fall in a collision with Cristian Ansaldi.

He fell upside down on to the back of his neck and the initial diagnosis was chest bruising. However, that was updated following an X-Ray, which found a parcellar fracture of the sternum. It remains to be seen how long this will keep Hysaj out of action for.
