Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic could extend AC Milan stay for one more season

The veteran re-joined the Serie A side in January.

And he had lifted his team’s spirit from the very first game.

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini recently revealed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will automatically renew his contract if the Rossoneri qualify for the Champions League. The Swede’s current deal runs to June. “With Ibra his contract is six months with a clause inserted of automatic renewal in case we make it into the Champions League,” Maldini told Sky Italia.

“If we don’t, it’s only natural that we will all sit at the table with him. With Ibra there is always a personal discussion in which there must always be an open dialogue. There always has been, otherwise, he wouldn’t have arrived.”

However, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan will offer the veteran a brand new deal with the club regardless of whether the club manage to qualify for UCL or not. The Swedish striker returned at the San Siro in the January transfer window and has so far netted three goals and helped his team rise significantly.

Ibrahimovic scored 42 goals in 61 games for AC Milan between 2010 and 2012, with the club’s hierarchy signing him again to try and turn around their poor season.
