The Argentine striker has now returned, after being forced out of Italy.

Former AC Milan, Sampdoria and Torino striker Maxi Lopez has returned to Italy with Serie B side Crotone.

Lopez has signed a one-year contract with Crotone and joins on a free transfer after he left Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama in May.

“Football Club Crotone announces that it has acquired the rights of the football player Maximiliano Gaston Lopez”, the club has confirmed via its official site.

“The new Rossoblu striker has signed a contract until 30 June 2020, this morning at the Club headquarters, in the presence of President Gianni Vrenna and sporting director Raffaele Vrenna. The Argentine striker (born on 3 April 1984, in Buenos Aires), who also has Italian citizenship, will bring experience and quality to Crotone.”

The 35-year-old forward, perhaps even more famous for being the former husband of Mauro Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara, has a total of 215 appearances in the Italian Serie A league, having netted 46 goals. He has so far collected few important trophies, including one Champions League title, two La Liga trophies and three Argentine titles.

His most recent experience was at Vasco da Gama, scoring nine times in 24 appearances. While in Italy, he has had spells for AC Milan, Catania, Sampdoria, Chievo, Torino and Udinese.
