Spanish champions now chasing Everton centre-back
Spanish champions Barcelona are now chasing Everton centre-back John Stones, with manager Luis Enrique desperately looks to gain defensive reinforcements.
The young defender could be brought to the Nou Camp next summer, but apparently isn’t top of the club’s shopping list.
Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos are both ahead of Stones on the four-man shortlist, in which Enrique listed defenders aged 20 or 21 he was interested in signing.
Stones was chased by Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea all summer long, but the Blues couldn’t persuade Everton to let him go. Stones even submitted a transfer request before the final bid of £38million was turned down.
He missed Everton’s last two games against West Brom and Liverpool through injury after picking up a knee problems in the Capital One Cup clash with Reading in late September.
