Diego Costa scored his first goal since March in Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 win against Real Mallorca.

However, reports claim he is set to see out his final year in Spain.

After his spell at Chelsea, Diego Costa returned to the capital and in the three seasons at his second spell at the club, he has scored 12 goals. The experienced striker ended his six-month wait for a goal in Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 win against Real Mallorca. He had not netted since a 4-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves in March.

Costa headed home Koke’s cross 26 minutes into Wednesday’s La Liga clash at Son Moix and Joao Felix added a second after the break as Atleti ended a three-match winless run in all competitions.

Reports in Italy now claim that dispute putting an end to his goal drought, Atletico Madrid are becoming impatient with the Spanish international and could offload him before the start of next season. Italian source Calciomercato say Costa is set to to leave the Madrid side next summer with clubs in China and Qatar interested in the former Chelsea striker.

Even the Rojiblancos coach Diego Simeone has recently admitted that they are working on finding a way to get him scoring again.

“It’s not easy for a striker who doesn’t get close to goal,” he said at his pre-Mallorca press conference. “We are working with Costa, how he feels and what he sees, and we believe he can improve. It is an important individual change.”

Atletico have struggled for goals so far this season, scoring just five in their five La Liga games.
