Philippe Coutinho has thrown his Barcelona future into doubt after refusing to affirm that he will stay at the Catalan club next season.
Coutinho was a star at Liverpool where he was their main player. His great form attracted the interest of Barcelona who brought him for a record fee from Anfield.
Since his arrival at Nou Camp however, the player has been on a decline curve. He was supposed to replace Andres Iniesta at the team but Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has constantly played him out of position on the wings. Coutinho is a number 10 playmaker and hence has found it even more difficult to adjust to life in Spain.
With his spell at Barcelona going so poorly, there has been talks of him leaving the club. Rumours of him leaving Barcelona have been doing the rounds constantly and now he has added more fire to it.
“I do not know. The future, nobody knows,” Coutinho told reporters when asked if he will leave Barcelona. “I am focused to play with the national team now.”
Barcelona are tipped to make a move for Griezmann or Neymar and hence it seems likely they will sell Coutinho as well to make funds available.
