Now, the agent of the Inter star has talked up a future move to the La Liga champions
One of the biggest talents to emerge from Argentina in recent times is Lautaro MartĂnez. The former Racing Club man had courted interest from Europe’s elite, including Barcelona. But MartĂnez ended up signing for Inter Milan.
He has gone on to score 10 goals and provide two assists in 37 appearances for the Nerazzurri. He also now has 12 goals in 14 caps for Argentina after bagging a hat-trick against Mexico this week, and so the future looks bright for club and country moving forward. Barca reignited their interest in the 23-year-old centre-forward this summer, and the interest was reciprocated. With the €120 million signing of Antoine Griezmann, the move never materialized. But it could, in the future.
Despite recent reports of Inter Milan offering Lautaro a new deal, his agent, Alberto Yaque, has now seemingly thrown a spanner in the works by leaving the door open to a move to Barcelona at some stage so that his client can link up with compatriot Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp.
“It would be wonderful to see him play with Leo Messi at Barcelona,” Yaque told TyC Sports, with the Italians set to face the Blugrana in the Champions League group stages. “It’s great to see him play like that, so relaxed and happy.”
He has remarkable control in his first touch and that makes it very difficult for defenders to catch him.”
“Lautaro is very humble. When I went to meet him at Bahia Blanca, it wasn’t easy to take him with me, as he was very close to his family and felt homesick. Fortunately, his parents trusted me,” his agent said. “Before going to Inter Milan, I told him he wouldn’t struggle to settle in, because I know that whatever Lautaro puts into his head, he achieves.”
The young prolific striker would be a perfect bit at the Camp Nou, since Barcelona are without an out-and-out centre-forward except for Luis Suarez. Antoine Griezmann can fill in with ease whenever he is needed, but the French World Cup hero is not a long-term successor to Suarez.
