Full-back says Brazilian has the quality to play for Barcelona

Brazil full-back Dani Alves has told Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho he has the quality to play for Barcelona and should consider leaving Anfield this summer.

The midfielder scooped up four accolades at Liverpool’s end-of-season awards, and guided the club to the finals of the League Cup and Europa League. But his Brazil teammate, Alves, believe it’s time for him to leave.

“Football is about living the moment,” said Alves.

“Liverpool have history but you should consider playing for top UCL sides. He has the quality to play for Barcelona.”

Alves, who will leave Barcelona when his contract runs out in a matter of weeks and join Juventus in Serie A, is set to embark on a first transfer in eight years, having joined the Catalans in 2008.

Coutinho has been linked with Barcelona in the past, while Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be after the 23-year-old who netted 12 times in 43 appearances for the Reds this season.

The Brazilian has proved to be a key player since moving to Anfield for ÂŁ8.5 million in 2013, from Inter Milan, and is currently in America with the Brazil squad at the Copa America.
