Barcelona and Uruguay star Luis Suarez has said that Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus took him by surprise. Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid shortly after the World Cup.

Suarez said, “Obviously it came as a little surprise because of how good things had gone for him (Ronaldo) in Madrid, everything he had won there and how Madrid had helped him grow as a player. So it surprises you a bit, but that’s football for you. One day you can say that you are happy where you are and the next day things may change. It’s a decision which must be respected, [it was] taken for a reason.

But we are in the Spanish league and we’re competing against Real Madrid, Atletico, Sevilla, Valencia, Villarreal and all the other teams. We’re not competing against one player. One player can make a difference or can make a team better, but the reality is that we expect to be playing against the best Madrid possible, against the best Atletico and against the best teams and players.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has not started his Juventus career very well. In three Serie A matches, he is yet to score a goal for the Turin outfit. Real Madrid on the other hand, are doing pretty well without the Portuguese. They have won all of their La Liga matches so far. Los Blancos are second in the La Liga table behind Barcelona on goal-difference.

Karim Benzema has shocked many by scoring 4 goals in three matches so far. Gareth Bale has also been brilliant so far. He has scored three goals, one in each match. Many expect the Welshman to become Real’s talisman following Ronaldo’s departure. Real Madrid’s next La Liga game is against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. After this, Real begin their Champions League campaign against Roma on Wednesday.
