Barcelona manager has finally broken his silence on the Neymar transfer saga, distancing himself from rumours about his role in the move.

The Brazilian superstar joined Paris Saint Germain in a world-record ÂŁ200m deal in 2017. However, he is now desperate to rejoin Barca amidst rumours of his departure.

Talking about the issue, Valverde said,

”I’m outside all these matters and focusing on coaching the team, I have enough to think about ahead of the game without thinking about players from other teams.”

“We need to respect players that play for other clubs, he belongs to Paris Saint-Germain right now so no, I have nothing to comment on right now.”

“I have a squad to consider and I think about them for tomorrow, what happens after that is a problem for the future.”

“I’m very happy with the squad and I have no reason to talk about players in other teams.”

Ivan Rakitic has been linked with a move to PSG as a part of the exchange deal to bring back Neymar. However, the Valverde has said that he would like the Croatian to stay put.

“Rakitic is a very important player for us, he has been for my two years here. I hope he will continue doing so,” he said.

Barcelona are set to face Athletic Bilbao in their first LaLiga game of the season today.
