The Frenchman has, once again, quashed transfer speculation

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has ended further speculation about his future at the Santiago Bernabeu by announcing his plans to stay at the club “for many years”.

It isn’t the first time that the 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital, having been linked with Arsenal on numerous occasions in the past, but insists he his happy with life at Real.

And recent reports have suggested that new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to bring him to Old Trafford, having worked with him during his time in charge at Real.

The France international helped Real to secure their second Champions League crown in three years, against their 2014 opponents, local rivals Atletico Madrid. And despite, once again, failing to take the Spanish league title from Barcelona, Benzema admits he is very happy.

“I am happy here and I hope to be here for many years,” said Benzema.

“I thank the people in Madrid for being there for me and my family. Thanks to everybody because they are part of my life and we are going to be used to winning titles.”

“I am very proud of the team and I am glad because it is a very important title for everybody.

“I have to thank to the supporters, the club’s president [Florentino Perez], the coach [Zinedine Zidane], the players and today we are in Madrid’s history.”

Benzema secured his second Champions League medal on Saturday night, and he will now be hoping he can help guide his side to a first league title since 2011/12, during the coach’s first full season in charge, next campaign.
