Ramos aims to sign a two-year contract before retiring at Madrid.

However, Los Blancos are reflecting and don’t seem willing to meet his requirements.

Sergio Ramos reportedly wants to retire at Real Madrid and asks for a two-year renewal. However, according to Diario AS, Madrid are reluctant to even open talks for a new contract.

It’s not Los Blancos’ priority to deal with this matter now. The report goes on to add that the board are currently against adding a further two years to the 33-year-old’s terms, despite his legendary status at the club. The La Liga leaders are only prepared to hand Ramos a one-year extension, keeping him in the capital until 2022. They are not in a rush to open discussion as a deal could be agreed one season after the other.

The club captain is still under contract until 2021. He remains one of the squad’s most important players. But Madrid’s club policy is only to offer one-year deals to players over 32. Given Ramos will be 35 by the time his current contract expires, the club are wary of breaking from policy despite his importance to the team.
