The Chelsea striker says he wants to start more often for the Blues

Loic Remy may be in contention for the game against Newcastle with Diego Costa currently suspended.

The Spain international was handed a three-match ban after he was found guilty of violent conduct during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory against Arsenal.

The former Magpies forward scored his first goal for the Blues, during a 4-1 victory away to Walsall in the Capital One Cup last night.

However, starting opportunities have been few and far between for the 28-year-old, who has expressed his desire to be chosen more often.

“Yes, it’s really difficult. I can’t lie, the rhythm is not the same to compare with training,”

“When you come in you just need to do your best. Of course, when you are not playing much it is more difficult to do that” said Remy.

Walsall 1-4 Chelsea

Jose Mourinho’s side avoided a potential banana skin, by running out comfortable winners against League One’s Walsall.

Ramires headed the Blues in front before Remy powered home a second goal, but Walsall’s James O’Connor provided an instant reply, tapping home from close range on the stroke of half-time.

Kenedy put the game out of reach of the Saddlers, providing a classy finish before Pedro added insult to injury with a strike from distance in the 90th minute.

Mourinho said: “The team was strong, played well and I’m happy with the resul,”

“We were not here to throw away a competition. When you start the season with bad results like we did you cannot lose against a League One team.
