Everton fought off a resilient Swansea City side to advance to the quarter final stage of the FA Cup.

Goals from Lacina Traore, Naismith and Leighton Baines saw the Toffees home.

The Toffees took the lead in the 4th minute, after Lacina Traore turned Ashley Williams after collecting a ball from the wing, before he lashed home into the far corner past Swans keeper Tremmell.

Kevin Miralles then almost doubled Everton’s lead just minutes later, but saw his dipping shot go just wide in the Merseyside sun.

However, the Swans were level in the 15th minute, following a tidy header from Jonathan De Guzman.

After some neat build up play, Neil Taylor galloped past his man, before whipping in a teasing ball, which was met by De Guzman, who glanced home a header past Joel Robles.

Everton then seemed to get the upper hand in the game, with Steven Pienaar striking the bar, Kevin Mirallas dragging a shot wide and forcing a good save from a dangerous free-kick.

Seamus Coleman then saw his shot just lash past the post in first half added time, as Everton looked for a second.

After the break Pienaar missed a golden chance to put his side in front, heading wide from five yards out after 50 minutes.

Swansea didn’t really cause Everton much concern, however Nathan Dyer failed to really test Joel in the Everton goals.

Tremmell tipped round Miralles curling free kick, before Everton found the lead.

Naismith and Leon Osman replaced Traore and Ross Barkley, a substitution which had an instant impact.

Naismith then hurried Taylor into a mistake, pouncing on the ball before side-footing the ball under the advancing Tremmell.

The Toffees found a third late on, after Naismith was brought down by Ashley Richards, a penalty was awarded, and Leighton Baines stepped up and slotted a spot kick into the far corner, sending the keeper the other way.

Everton will play will play either Arsenal or Liverpool in the quater finals.
