Mourinho reportedly has no plans for the Spaniard at Old Trafford

Everton are planning a move for Juan Mata, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho has taken over at Man United and, as he did at Chelsea, he doesn’t see a future at the club for the Spaniard. There are no plans in place to use him as part of the team and therefore, he could be available if a transfer offer comes in.

The Red Devils have made this blatantly clear with the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund, who is capable of playing in that position. He is likely to command a first-team spot next season, leaving Mata confined to the bench.

Valued at around ÂŁ20m

Step in Everton, who have a keen interest in the midfielder, according to reports today. The Toffees are on the lookout for some new signings to help fire them back into the running for a European spot next year under new boss Ronald Koeman and Mata is now one of their main targets.

Any offer would need to be around ÂŁ20m, a fee which Everton may be willing to match if it means being able to bring the 28-year old to Goodison Park.

However, several other teams have also been keeping an eye on the situation and it means that Everton may have a battle on their hands to secure his signature.
