Everton chairman Bill Kenwright confirms the club will not sell John Stones

John Stones, 21 looks set to stay at Everton as the club have released a statement today saying that the defender is not for sale and that he remains a vital part of their first team plans.

This is set to be a big blow for Chelsea who have already had two bids turned down and see Stones as a long term replacement for John Terry who has looked out of sorts so far this season.

League One outfit Barnsley will also be disappointed with the news as they have a 15% sell on clause for the defender who started his career at Oakwell before joining Everton in 2013 in a deal worth ÂŁ2.25 million.

Everton Club Statement

“Everton Football Club has rejected a transfer request from John Stones.”

“Since the start of the transfer window, we have resolutely turned down offers from another Premier League football club for our player.”

“John is not for sale and he will remain a highly valued member of our first team squad.”
