Exciting goalkeeping prospect Alban Lafont opens up on his admiration for Arsenal
Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Alban Lafont just months after the young goalkeeper rejected a move.
Lafont has earned rave reviews for his rapid development and he is considered as one of the most exciting goalkeeping prospects on the planet.
The 20-year-old took the next step in his career as he left Ligue 1 club Toulouse to join Serie A outfit Fiorentina.
Arsenal were linked with a move for him prior to his move to Italy but the youngster snubbed the chance and chose to continue his development elsewhere.
However, Lafont has opened up on his admiration for Arsenal since his childhood days, which might rekindle Arsenal’s hopes of signing him in the future.
“Since I was little I have really liked Arsenal,” Lafont said
“I would like to play later in a five-star club.
“But I’m keeping my feet on the ground.”
Arsenal are likely to sign a goalkeeper in the summer with Petr Cech set to retire.
Former Liverpool star Steve Nicol has claimed that Arsenal boss Unai Emery will want to overhaul much more of his squad.
“Unai Emery will know,” Nicol said.
“He’ll be saying the right things to his players and the board and everybody else.
“When he gets back in his room, his office, and shuts the door he’ll be like: ‘Where am I going to get these players from?’.
“That’s exactly what he will be doing. He knows.”
