‘I cannot wait to FINALLY win the Premier League’

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed how excited he is to be within touching distance of winning his first ever Premier League title, seemingly taking a cheeky swipe at his former club Arsenal.

The Spaniard, who captained Arsenal throughout his career, never won the Premier League during his first stint in England, but after leaving FC Barcelona and returning with Chelsea, he is now just three wins away from being crowned as a champion.

Chelsea’s narrow and slightly negative 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Saturday ensured that they took a 10-point lead over nearest-rivals Arsenal with just five games remaining, meaning it would take a massive dip in form for Jose Mourinho’s men to lose the title now.

Fabregas’ new side will go up against his old side at the weekend as Chelsea travel to the Emirates Stadium, and the midfielder knows if they can win there, they will be all-but crowned champions.

Fabregas seeks Emirates win

“It’s massive,” he said. “We are level on games now, we are 10 points in front and we don’t want to give them hope to put pressure on us.

“We have to put in a good performance because we know the Emirates is always a difficult place to go.

“We just want to win it. The sooner, the better.

“We want to give satisfaction to the supporters. It’s been five years for them without winning the Premier League title; for me it’s been 27 years so I’d love to win it as soon as possible.”

During his time at Arsenal, Fabregas won the FA Cup and the Community Shield, but always fell short of the league title.
