Midfielder admits the team NEED Costa
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that the Blues need striker Diego Costa to achieve their targets.
Costa hit back at reports linking him with a move to China with a goal and a ‘too much talk’ celebration, in their 2-0 win over Hull.
The reports also said that there had been a training ground row between Costa and manager Antonio Conte.
However, Costa appeared to put the saga behind him as Chelsea moved eight points clear in the Premier League.
‘We need him if we want to achieve our targets,’ Fabregas, 29, said.
‘It was a good goal and he’s always there when we need him.
‘We know what Diego brings to the team, nothing needs to be said about that. We’re pleased he’s back.’
Former Barcelona star Pedro echoed Fabregas’ statement, adding: ‘He is perfect for this team
‘I have played with important people, important players like [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic [at Barcelona].
‘But Costa is a very good striker too, a very good runner, strong physically and scores more goals for the team.’
After registering their 18th victory of the season, Chelsea now turn their attentions to the FA Cup and a fourth round clash against Championship side Brentford, who are going through a transfer saga of their own, with star striker Scott Hogan being linked with a move to West Ham.
