Fabrizio Romano on Chelsea’s failed bid for Jhon Duran and future plans

Chelsea’s search for a new striker is still in focus, and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has offered fresh insight into the club’s efforts to bolster their attacking options.

Speaking in his latest YouTube update, Romano discussed Chelsea’s previous attempts to sign a forward, shedding light on a name that could resurface in future transfer windows.

Chelsea reportedly made a strong push to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran during the recent summer transfer window.

According to Romano, the Blues had advanced negotiations with Villa, with midfielder Conor Gallagher being offered as part of the deal.

However, Gallagher’s refusal to move to Villa Park caused the move to fall through, halting Chelsea’s progress in securing Duran.

Romano confirmed that while Chelsea still admire Duran’s potential, no current talks are underway for a January move.

The club had been determined to bring in a striker last summer, but their attempts to land Duran, along with other high-profile targets like Victor Osimhen, failed to materialize.

The Italian journalist revealed that Aston Villa held firm on their £50 million valuation of Duran, which proved to be a sticking point.

Despite this, Romano hinted that Chelsea may revisit their interest in Duran, either in the upcoming January window or next summer.

As Chelsea continue their striker search, it’s clear the club remains active in exploring options to strengthen their squad for the long term.
