Falcao joining Manchester United was the wrong decision- says Monaco boss

Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim thinks that Radamel Falcao should have joined Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester City, not Manchester United.

The Colombian striker signed on last summer’s transfer deadline day, but has since endured a torrid time in Manchester.

It now looks increasingly unlikely that United will offer Falcao a permanent deal at Old Trafford.

And Falcao’s Monaco boss Jardim says the 29 year old would potentially have fared better, had he chosen another English team.

“I don’t know if he made a mistake to join United,” he told the Sun.

“In the last days of August I was thinking Falcao would leave, but I thought he’d go to another club.

“In England other teams wanted him. But I didn’t think United would be the ones taking him as they had Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.

“Maybe they did not need him. It’s my opinion but not my decision to make.

Jardim, whose side travel to Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday added: “I think other clubs needed him more, such as Chelsea, Manchester City or Liverpool.

“I think at that moment it would have been easier to go to Chelsea, Liverpool or even Real Madrid.”
