Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao was only interested in joining Serie A giants Juventus over the summer, according to the Italian club’s director general Beppe Marotta.
The Colombian hitman made a deadline day move to Old Trafford worth an initial £6 million pounds, with the option to buy at the end of the loan period.
However, with Falcao settling in well at United, Beppe Marotta that a move to Italy was his preferred destination over the course of the summer.
Marotta claims Falcao had his heart set on a move to Serie A and Juventus were close to sealing the deal before United’s money blew them out of the water.
Director General Beppe Marotta told Rai TV: “We were really close to getting Falcao.
“We followed him and there was contact.
“The player’s preference was to move to Italy but then Manchester United emerged with their spending power and the move failed.”
