Colombia international edges closer to Stamford Bridge switch
Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao has hinted he is close to a move to Premier League champions Chelsea.
The 29-year-old striker managed just four goals last season for the Red Devils, but is eyeing up a move to Jose Mourinho’s side over the coming weeks.
“It has been speculated a lot about my next team, but I tried to stay calm,” Falcao said.
“I would like to continue in England, we’ll decide (my next team) in the coming weeks.”
Mega deal for Chelsea
It is understood AS Monaco are prepared to sell Falcao for £25 million. Significantly less than what was reported United would have to pay for the midfielder.
But Chelsea are confident the former Atletico Madrid man can rediscover his best form in London, and will in fact benefit financially from his poor season with United.
The move is something few would have been expecting, after the season he has had. But Mourinho will look to bolster his attacking options, which includes former Atletico man Diego Costa, in an attempt to retain the title.
Falcao is understood to be on £250,000-a-week, which he earned during his poor season with United. However, Chelsea will meet the player’s wage demands to get him onboard this summer.
