Colombian on the verge of loan-move

AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has confirmed he is very close to finalising his loan move to Chelsea.

The Manchester United flop left Old Trafford after a poor campaign, with him scoring four goals in 29 games – mainly as a substitute.

The 29-year-old is on international duty with Colombia at the Copa America and led his country to beat Brazil 1-0 last night.

Chelsea are finalising personal terms with the former River Plate, Porto and Atletico Madrid star and he is expected to cost the Blues ÂŁ3million for a season-long loan with the Premier League champions having an option to sign him in the next summer transfer window for ÂŁ35million.

Falcao is confident that the deal with go ahead and has hinted at the deal being officially announced in the coming days.

He said: “It can be, you will know soon.

“I am just thinking of the Copa America and the squad; my staff are taking care of this.” he added.

The striker, who was alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the FIFA FIFPro World XI in 2012, is expected to be a direct replacement for Blues legend Didier Drogba, 37, who was released at the end of last season.
